The NYSAA hosted their annual convention February 2-4, 2019 at the Marriott Albany, 189 Wolf Road, Albany, NY.
New York State Auctioneers Gather for Annual Convention
Auctioneers from across the state convened this past weekend for the New York State Auctioneers Association (NYSAA) annual convention. The conference was held this year at the Marriott in Albany, NY, February 2-4.
Highlights of this year’s convention included the Hall of Fame and Auctioneer of the Year Awards, the Bid Calling Championship, Fun Auction, Marketing Awards, the election of the Board of Directors and the Presidential Banquet.
Throughout the weekend, Auctioneers were presented with dynamic and engaging educational seminars from industry leading Auctioneers and presenters including Tammy Miller, Emily Wears, Forres Meadows, Ailie Byers and Kathy Sherman of HR One.
Don Benz, III of East Concord was crowned the 2019 NYSAA Bid Calling Champion with Brayden Webber of Penn Yan, crowned the Reserve Champion.
The highest awards conveyed to an Auctioneer in the NYSAA is an induction into the NYSAA Auctioneer’s Hall of Fame and to be crowned the Auctioneer of the Year. Terry Bradley of Camillus, NY was inducted into this year’s Hall of Fame class. Philip Gableman of Pleasant Valley, NY was awarded Auctioneer of the Year.
The NYSAA held their annual election of officers at the annual membership business meeting, electing Phil Gableman of Pleasant Valley – President, Todd Jantzi of Batavia – Vice-President, Stephanie Messier of Camden – Treasurer, Mark Whalen of Castile, and Jim Hoyt of Alton as the new Directors. Remaining board members include: Stephanie Messier as Treasurer, James Mason, Blake Benson, Randy Passonno, Erin Ward as Directors and Jared Lambrecht as Chairman of the Board.
